Moin! I am Kathi, self-employed freelancer in the areas texting, translating and editing, and I am from beautiful Hamburg. As a kid I was already constantly writing and wanted to become an author when I grow up. Thanks to my bilingual education I discovered my love and talent for the English language. When I was still studying, I started working as a technical writer and translator in a software company and proceeded to stay there the following two years before I stepped into self-employment. Now I am here for you with a broad offer of services which you can find out more about further below.

You need help writing or rewriting a text? I am able to offer you a broad variety of texts: From blog entries over journalistic texts to complex manuals. One of the people who helped me develop my craft is German author Nils Mohl (Es war einmal Indianerland). I of course offer every type of texting in English as well as German.

Rather by chance than by plan I pursued a bilingual school career after my first years. Right from the start I was taught more English than German. In addition to that I was educated in more and more subjects in English each year. During my University time I taught remedial classes and translatet Master theses and websites before landing my first job as a permanently employed translator. What seperates me from other translators is that I not only offer to translate from English to my mother tongue but also vice versa.

You can express yourself very well but need someone to check the grammar? You wrote a paper and not only need someone to check grammar but also syntax, logic and expression, and give you notes? You wrote down a basic idea and wish for a complete overhaul of your text without having to edit yourself afterwards? You need someone to check your text for a certain aspect (e.g. gender neutral language)? I can take on all of these tasks for you in German and English!

How does a collaboration with you work?
The classic procedure when working with me looks as follows:
- You initiate contact with me via one of the available ways (e-mail, telephone, Xing) and tell me what you need my help with.
- In order to be able to calculate the work effort, I need specific information from you (e.g. volume of work). In case of an editing service I need to have a look at the text that needs to be edited.
- I create an offer for you.
- Once you have bindingly commissioned me, I will start executing the order at the time we agreed on.
- After I finished your order you have 7 days to inform me about changes that I need to make free of charge and 14 days to pay your bill.
Why should I hire you?
I work fast, orderly and reliably. I usually meet deadlines. Should I not be able to meet a deadline despite working extra hours, I will inform you well in advance! I can get excited about topics very easily and will infect you with my excitement. To make it short, working with me is simply fun!
Your rate for texting is calculated by hour. How much can you write in one hour?
That varies depending on kind of text and topic. If I need to do a lot of research and check facts in between writing periods or if I need to consider certain specifications, I am less productive in one hour. I can write an individual, non-commital offer for you after we had a personal exchange regarding your needs.
What is the difference between text correction, lectorate and editing and how do I need which service I need?
The differences between the three services are simple: during a correction I only check the grammar of a text and automatically correct it, when doing a lectorate I also pay attention to things like expression, logic and form and make notes and when editing a text I have permission to change, rewrite and correct it in any way I want. If you want to know which option works best for you, feel free to contact me for counseling without commitment.
Can you make an exception and work outside of your office hours for me?
My office hours can rather be viewed as a lose time frame in which I am contactable. Upon agreement I can fulfill orders or keep appointments outside of this time frame. I may eventually raise my fee for working on inquiries at short notice that need to be worked on over night, on a holiday or the weekend.
